Aug 14, 2021 · I had the same issue pairing my Apple Watch series 2 with my iphone xr. A colleague suggested I pair the watch to an older phone, update the watch OS , unpair it with the older phone then try pairing it with the XR again. The watch paired with an iphone 5c with no problem. I haven't tried it with the XR but hopefully it'll work.
