Dec 5, 2010 · Your rifle will tell what is the best powder. I tried H-4895 and didn't get as good or as consistant accuracy as I did with Varget. I have tried all the powders that I listed with 168 grain bullets, 175 grain bullets and 178 grain bullets. Varget just works good with them all. Sincerely, Dave (Bubba) Thornblom

Jan 20, 2009 · Mate, there are many schools of thought on this tyopic. Best advice I can give is that you should read both sides of the arguement and then decide. Personally I see the logic of a shorter barrel. But thats my PERSONAL VIEW. Deciode what you like the ebst. But on the other hand. My Palma rifle has a 26" barrel and thats SHORT in Palma circles.

Dec 2, 2008 · I am looking to purchase a .308. My price range is roughly $800-1000. I am looking at couple of the remingtons 700 , the SPS tactical and the VSF (which is about 400 more than the sps). I was wondering what everyone thought would be the best .308. I am looking for long range shooting, just targets etc best accuracy for the price range.

Jul 8, 2009 · BlackHills makes good ammo as well. Or you may even get lucky like I did and have a rifle that likes American Eagle 150's. Think of it this way. Most people like steak. Is there a really big difference between a NY Strip and a Porterhouse? My rifle liked the Round Steaks so it is good for my budget. Besides I get Fed brass to reload with.

Aug 23, 2015 · The rifle is chambered in .308 Win as I just stated, has a 1:10" twist, and a 26" barrel. I outfitted the rifle with a Harris bipod as well as a Bushnell Elite Tactical 4.5-30x 50mm mil-dot scope with a second focal plane. I was wondering what all of you thought I should be shooting for 300-600yds as far as ammunition goes.

I've been looking at the 300 Win Mag. I like the AI platform in .308, but I don't know if I want to spend another 5k for another rifle.

Jan 29, 2008 · What do you all feel is the ebst all around semi auto sniper rifle? I want to try to stay away from any dpms rifles. I am leaning towards an M21 or I might be in the market for a Knights Armament but I dont beleive i can afford it. Let me know what your thoughts are.

Oct 17, 2010 · A 1:10 is the most versatile twist you can run in a 308. Period. You can run up to 220SMK bullets full speed, and up to around 200-210 subsonic. You can also run down to 125gr if you want. (I've not tested 110's) There isn't really anything that you'd want to do with a 308 that you can't do with a 1:10 twist.

Apr 12, 2015 · It's one of the easiest tasks out there. Remove the bolt, sandbag the rifle on a rest. Look down the bore at a target with a large black bullseye set at 100 yards. Center the bullseye in the bore, sight through the scope, and without disturbing the rifle just adjust the turrets so they're centered on the bullseye.

Aug 29, 2015 · Two different things. Quick offhand snap shots with an AR is fine to practice and do it a lot on 3 gun but not in long range tactical precision rifle matches. Tactical precision rifle is not about prone on a bipod but any position you might be shooting that will get you the most stable to make that precision shot.
