Apr 1, 2020 · I like the post reticle for hunting. I have a Lyman All-American 2.5x PermaCenter scope with a post and crosshair on my Marlin 1894 44 mag. It meets (meats?) or exceeds my hunting needs.

Feb 21, 2019 · A K4-60B Weaver Post and Crosshair Reticle, 1960s or 1970s vintage is preferred. I would also consider a 1960s or 1970s vintage Leupold or Redfield with a German #1 Reticle. Has to be a German #1, not a #3 or #4 reticle.

Jun 27, 2012 · The older Weaver Post and Crosshair reticle is actually German Reticle #1. The #4 reticle has 4 crosshairs to them- 3 are bold, the 2 one the side and the 1 on the bottom- then the 1 on top is a fine hair.

Oct 2, 2020 · Top of the post will be much easier to see in the early and late low light. I zero scopes with post and cross-hair reticles so that the top of the post covers the bottom half of the bulls-eye. Have a 1960 Savage 99 Featherweight in 300 Sav. topped with a ~1964 Weaver K4 with the post n crosshair.

The old Weaver Company offered a Range-Finder reticle in their scopes, starting (I believe) in the 1950's. This reticle added a second crosshair 6 MOA below the central horizontal crosshair.

Oct 14, 2024 · Like you IMO vintage rifles deserve to be topped with vintage optics from the same time period. I actually put the K4 60B dot on a 1960 vintage Winchester 69A "Chrome". Looks great and shoots great. My 1955 Remington 511 already had a K4 60B on it. The reticle however is Weaver's standard crosshair. Both make fine squirrel rifles.
